Implementation of the MMD 1000-D Program by Group 51 of Brawijaya University in Sumberbening Village, Trenggalek Regency: Students Making an Impact Through Science, Technology, and Innovation Toward Empowered Villages

The program of Mahasiswa Membangun Desa (MMD) 1000-D, Group 51 from Brawijaya University, was carried out in Sumberbening Village, Dongko Subdistrict, Trenggalek Regency, East Java, from July 6 to August 6, 2026, under the theme “Students Making an Impact Through Science, Technology, and Innovation Toward Empowered Villages.” This program was designed using a participatory approach that began with a field survey, needs assessment, and discussions with village officials and the community, ensuring that the program was truly rooted in the conditions and aspirations of local residents.

The results of the needs assessment were translated into nine work programs covering four main sectors: environment, agriculture and forestry, law and institutions, and tourism. Among these are GEMAS (organic waste management through maggot cultivation), TANGKAS (strengthening waste management), GEMBUR (converting animal manure into organic fertilizer), and other programs that support the strengthening of village institutions and the development of digital-based tourism potential.

This chapter discusses the background, implementation methods, activity cycles, and the results and analysis of each program using the fishbone diagram approach, as a form of scientific accountability for the implementation of sustainability-oriented community service.
